| Before you venture up that ladder there are some safety issues that need to be covered. First you need the right footwear. Soft rubber type soles are the best. They offer a better grip on shingle and barrel tile roofs. Have a spotter for your ladder and to keep an eye on you while you do the work. Last, but not least is to watch the weather. I know down here in Florida storms producing deadly lightning can come up on you pretty quick. Take no chances when it comes to your safety. |
Damaged shingles are another common roof repair. To replace a shingle first slide a pry bar under the shingle directly above the damaged one and carefully lift it to free it from the sealer strip. Remove the first row of nails beneath. Push the pry bar under the shingle immediately above the damaged one and remove the second row of nails. Slide the new shingle up into place and secure with four roofing tacks.
